Pets Are Property In Divorce Cases

Pets are considered property and treated as such in divorce cases. Some cases involving custody of an animals can be as bitter as those involving children.

For illustration purposes:
Jefferson County, Texas, 2001, Lynn Goldsteing was sentenced to 30 days in jail for refusing several orders to turn over two cats.

Dallas, Texas, 2000, Karen Bennett and Ed Guice fight over a Chihuaha. The two spend alomost $16,000.00 in legal fees. Karen winds up with custody and Ed gets visitation, including Friday overnights.

These cases depict the extreme measures that parties will go to when it comes to their pets.
