Sample Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage

The sample below is just an example. Each particular case is different and the document will be prepared by the law firm to reflect the particulars of the case. This document is known as the Judgment For Dissolution and is presented before the presiding Judge for approval and entry. If not done to the satisfaction of the Judge, the Judgment will not be approved.

COUNTY DEPARTMENT, DOMESTIC RELATIONS DIVISION

IN RE THE MARRIAGE OF: JOE JONES Petitioner,
No:

AND

JONI JONES Respondent.

JUDGMENT OF DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE

This cause came before the court by the parties Stipulation and Request to Hear Uncontested cause on the Petitioner's Petition for Dissolution of Marriage. The Petitioner, JOE JONES, appeared in open court in person and by his attorney, JOE ATTORNEY. The court heard the evidence, a transcript of which will be duly filed. The court, being fully advised of the premises finds:

  1. This court has jurisdiction over the Petitioner:

    1. The Petitioner was a resident of Illinois at the time the action was commenced, and has maintained that residence for at least ninety (90) days next preceding the making of this finding.

  2. This court has jurisdiction over the Respondent, JONI JONES.
  3. This court has jurisdiction over the subject matter.
  4. The parties were married on May 12, 1996, and their marriage was registered in Chicago, Illinois.
  5. That irreconcilable differences have occurred between said parties hereto which could not be resolved, and have caused an irretrievable breakdown of their marriage.
  6. That one child (NIGEL JONES, age 4, born 3-8-97) was born to the parties; no children were adopted by the parties; and that Respondent is not now pregnant.

WHEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED THAT:

  1. The Petition for Dissolution of Marriage is granted. The bonds of matrimony between JOE JONES AND JONI JONES are hereby dissolved and the parties are awarded a judgment of dissolution of marriage.
  2. The parties shall execute, carry out, and perform all of the terms of this Judgment.
  3. This Court shall, and it does, retain jurisdiction of the subject matter of this cause and of the parties for the purpose of enforcing the terms of this Judgment.
  4. That the parties are barred from seeking maintenance and/or support (heretofore termed "alimony"), whether past, present or future.
  5. That the Marital Settlement Agreement dated___________, 2007 shall be incorporated into said Judgment as well as the Joint Parenting Agreement.
  6. That the Respondent shall have the right to regain the use of her maiden name, JONI SMITH.
